by Lionel 2019 Locomotive #611 In their 2019 Catalog, Lionel announced a deluxe version of Norfolk & Western 611 in American Freedom Train colors in 3-Rail O Scale. |

The model is based on a 1974 proposal to restore N&W 611 to pull the AFT. Bob Lorenz, artist for the American Freedom Train Foundation, produced two pieces of art depicting 611 at the head of the evolving AFT. 611 was also depicted on foundation letterhead.

Though the actual 611 locomotive was never used with the AFT, its profile (minus bullet-nose housing) became the basis of the American Freedom Train's official logo used in advertising everywhere. |
