American Freedom Train Reunion 2006 The first successful reunion in four years! The 2006 reunion was held in South Lake Tahoe, California without a cloud in the sky. A good thing, too, since the 2004 and 2005 reunions were both canceled by hurricanes! Dale Chesnutt
& Brad Griffin were hosts. The reunion hotel was the Horizon
Casino and Resort (actually a few feet across the state line into
Nevada, hence the 'Casino' part). |

| Highlights of the reunion were a visit to the Nevada State Railroad Museum (where the diminutive Freedom Train 3339 was found), a steam train ride in Virginia City, and activities all around the lake -- including a gondola ride up a nearby mountain at the Heavenly Ski Resort. |  |

The weekend was topped off with a steamboat dinner cruise on the Tahoe Queen under the stars. At right: Lake Tahoe from above. The reunion hotel is in the foreground behind the trees at left. |
