The
American Freedom Train in Tarrytown, New York
August 17-19, 1976
The
train's 106th display city.
The train went to Tarrytown without the steam locomotive, since the city is in 3rd rail territory and the large steam locomotive might have hung on the electric rail, causing a short. At least that was the theory.
Three black Penn Central U-33b locomotives pulled the train in from Selkirk to the GM assembly plant in Tarrytown, which had a small rail yard..
