The American Freedom Train in Washington, DC
September 25-29, 1976

The train's 116th display city.

At the Pentagon outside Washington, DC, the staff and crew posed for group photos. This was the last stop for the former Reading locomotive (right) and its crew.

AFT locomotive #1 pulled the train into Washington DC at 8:17 AM. The train displayed on the grounds of the Pentagon, adjacent to the E-1 lot.

Locomotive #4449 took over from #1 (former Reading 2101) and reamined at the head to the train to the end of the line in Florida. This was the last time 2101 would be with the AFT.

From here the train would makes its way down the East coast, finally ending up in Miami, Florida at the end of the year.

The T-1 displayed with the train for the last time at the Pentagon. From there it was routed back to Lebanon, NJ.

While at the Pentagon, AFT car #20 was renumbered 33 and AFT car #33 was renumbered 34; finally all the support cars were in numercial order, 30-34.
